Dear Colleague:
The KADE Local Networking Group of the American Association of Diabetes Educators is pleased to invite you to the CME/CE activity, Optimizing the Use of Insulin to Improve the Management of Type 2 Diabetes. This workshop is part of a series sponsored by Veritas Institute for Medical Education, Inc., in conjunction with State Coordinating Bodies of the American Association of Diabetes Educators (AADE).
Program Overview Clinicians confronting the rising epidemic of type 2 diabetes have the benefit of a diverse and well-stocked armamentarium to help patients manage their disease. One of the most effective treatments to control HbA1c is insulin. However, both clinicians and patients may view the use of insulin as a sign of treatment failure. This view is troubling, especially as evidence mounts that early use of insulin can be beneficial in achieving and maintaining appropriate blood glucose levels and avoiding the many diabetes-related complications. In addition, new insulin delivery systems make the process of self-medication considerably more convenient and comfortable.
To help clinicians determine which patients are candidates for insulin, when they should receive it, and how they can best incorporate insulin therapy into their lives, this workshop provides in-depth education, hands-on experience with several insulin delivery devices, and reinforced learning.
We hope you will participate in this valuable and practical activity.
Sincerely,
